Support Our Local Pet Supply Store with Your Order of Reptile Heating and Lighting for Reptiles
Reptiles make terrific pets, but they aren't always easy to look after. You will not need to take your reptile for a walk every day, but you will need to supply it with a healthy environment with the right reptile heating and lighting. And to do that, you will need the reptile heating and lighting devices from a store you can trust.
There is a fundamental reason reptiles need extra heat: Reptiles are cold-blooded. They can not regulate their body temperature. In nature, reptiles manage their body heat by changing their environment. They get sun on a rock. They burrow into the ground. But reptiles in a cage do not have that choice. They require you to supply heat for them. Some reptiles, like geckos and ball pythons, need extra heat 24/7.
Reptile heating isn't quite as straightforward as putting a heating unit in a cage. Many heating systems emit light. Using them to keep a pet reptile warm can be like creating 24-hour daylight, so your pet would not have a regular cycle of activity and rest. Heating for reptiles during the night needs to come from an infrared source, like a heated ceramic, rather than from a heat lamp. On the other hand, reptiles you keep indoors also require supplementary lighting. They require the same wavelengths of light provided by sunlight so their bodies can make vitamin D. They require a daytime source of light in addition to a additional heat source regularly. And different reptiles require different reptile heating and lighting. Here is a rundown of reptile heating and lighting requirements by species.
Ball python heating and lighting: Ball pythons need 8 to 12 hours of light daily, with several breaks of 1 to 2 hours during the day. They favor a nocturnal source of light to imitate conditions in the wild; infrared light is great at night (just not a glowing light bulb).
Bearded dragon heating and lighting: Bearded dragons require constant heat, ideally from a ceramic heat source 24 hours a day. They also like to be able to indulge in the "sun light" you provide with an incandescent bulb, but ensure it's only turned on during the day.
Chameleon heating and lighting: Chameleons definitely must have UV-B light during the day so their bodies can make vitamin D. They prefer reduced temperatures at night from an infrared bulb.
Corn snake heating and lighting: Corn snakes require 8 to 12 hours of light each day with a "night light" or infrared light at night. Don't provide too much white light.
Gecko heating and lighting: Geckos are nocturnal, so they don't need lights that provide UV-B. A a normal incandescent bulb for daytime lighting works great, but they need ceramic heat or a nocturnal heat bulb at all hours.

Staff is always super friendly and helpful and the the store is always clean and we'll stocked.
The staff at One Stop are all very knowledgeable and friendly. I feel it's very important to support One Stop because they not only carry the highest quality products but they donate very large quantities of high quality products to Monadnock Humane society(our local shelter). The prices are great but I'd pay more there simply to assist w/their involvement in our community. Local businesses supporting other local businesses deserve our support. I really feel it's our duty to help when we are able. One Stop sets the best example for local businesses. Amazing service, friendly staff, knowledgeable in every aspect. There is nothing that could improve them as they are already at the very top!!
Helpful staff and plenty of supplies
One Stop should be the go to place for all your pet supply needs, from the vast variety of high quality foods, toys, equipment and accessory items. If they don't have it, you probably don't need it. The staff is always helpful with there product knowledge and service. I have always found the store neat and clean with a pleasant atmosphere. And the pricing is always on point too, even compared to the online retailers like Chewy's or Amazon. I really enjoy supporting this local business, my cat does too . . .
We have been One Stop customers for some time now. The Brattleboro store was our "home base," but on occasion we stop by the Keene store. This past weekend, we stopped to see what was new as we have not been to the Keene store since COVID hit. There were some familiar faces and some new ones as well. The store (despite the shortages that have been plaguing many pet supplies) was surprisingly well stocked and extremely well organized. We also found out that one of the most knowledgeable and helpful members of the Brattleboro team is now the manager in Keene! Looking through past reviews, there are several negative reviews of this store; that has not ever been our experience, but we are happy to see the new management making positive changes! Of our zoo worth of animals, Fish seem to be the most difficult to get and the fish room at Keene has always been very well stocked and we have made many purchases in Keene. We look forward to many more positive experiences with One Stop and are definitely excited to see how the new management continues to improve an already great store!
